About Ricky Martin
Born Enrique Martín Morales on December 24, 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ricky Martin began his musical career at the age of 12 as a member of the boy band Menudo, touring the world and recording in multiple languages before launching his solo career in 1991.
Martin is widely regarded as the pioneer who brought Latin pop music to mainstream global recognition. His performance of "The Cup of Life" at the Grammy Awards and the worldwide success of "Livin' la Vida Loca" triggered what became known as the "Latin explosion," opening the door for artists like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and Enrique Iglesias to achieve global crossover success.
Having sold over 70 million records worldwide, Martin is one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time, with more than 200 career awards including two Grammy Awards, five Latin Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
